How to make your spray tan last
Understanding the factors influencing how long your spray tan lasts is essential for achieving optimal results. Communicate your expectations and any specific timelines you have with your spray tan artist. For instance, if you're traveling for a wedding a few days beforehand and need your tan to maintain its perfection for an event 4-6 days later, informing your artist is crucial. The solution they select can prolong the lifespan of your tan and ensure it looks flawless for the occasion!
Tips for a lasting tan:
Follow prep instructions: Refer to our "How To Prep" post for detailed guidance.
Communicate to your artist your needs/expectations: They can select a suitable solution, recommend the ideal depth of color, and advise on rinse time to help you achieve your desired results.
Moisturize daily: Keeping your skin hydrated will give you long-lasting results.
Use a tan extender: Consult your spray tan artist for a tan extender that matches your tan and helps maintain your glowing skin for an extended period.
Avoid activities that may strip your tan: These activities include soaking in hot tubs or pools, taking hot showers, using saunas, and excessive sweating. Pools and hot tubs can break down the tan due to the reaction of chemicals and water with your skin. Sweat's acidity can also break down the tan, so we recommend limiting activities that cause excessive sweating and opting for cold showers and clean clothes afterward.
Avoid products that may strip your tan: Petroleum, paraffin/mineral oils, parabens, sulfates, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acids, malic acids, and lactic acids should all be avoided. These ingredients are commonly found in makeup, lotion, and soap. Check the ingredients of your regular products to ensure they don't affect your spray tan.
Take the time to care for your spray tan. The appointment and application is just a small piece of achieving the perfect results.
